1. Background:=

Changing Diabetes® in Children is a public-private partnership established in 2009. The partnership provides comprehensive care for children and young people living with type 1 diabetes in low- and middle-income countries.
In October 2022, Vietnam officially joined the global Changing Diabetes® in Children partnership to support at least 2,600 children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes during the project life 2023 – 2025. The project includes components targeted at improving the treatment and self-care of type 1 diabetes in children. These components are Patient education and advocacy, Training of Health care providers; Support to refurbishing clinics and establishing patient registry; medical supplies.
Diabetes is on the rise in Vietnam. According to the Vietnam Social Security data, Vietnam has about 2 million T2D patients. However, there is limited data about type 1 diabetes in Vietnam and its burden. According to the extrapolated number of IDF, there are 2,607 T1D children aged 1-19.  This number might be underestimated, in addition, the complications and social-economic situation of patients are little known. To gain more knowledge about the current state of T1D, under the framework of CDiC, we would like to implement a short-term assessment of “T1D current state and burden in Vietnam”
